Our story
Every great legacy begins with a simple purpose.
A Place Called Phadke Houd
Our story is inseparable from Phadke Houd, a historic part of Pune that became deeply connected with the Sugandhi family.
The Houd, or water tank, was constructed in 1776 and was once an important source of water for Punekars. When the water source eventually dried up, the family purchased the land and preserved it from falling into ruin. A building later came up on the site, with the old Houd becoming part of the family's storage space. And the location became much more than an address. It became the place from which generations of the family built their fragrance business. In 1961, when the Panshet Dam broke and floodwaters reached Phadke Houd, the family's building became a place of shelter for neighbours. For us, heritage isn't something displayed on a wall. It is a place, a memory, and a responsibility carried forward.

The packaging became more refined. The visual language changed. New generations discovered our fragrances.

A New Chapter: Vrinda
As the business entered a new generation, the fragrance family continued to evolve.
Around the last two decade, the Vrinda identity was introduced for a range of products, giving some of our traditional fragrances a new expression for a changing generation of customers. Today, products carrying the Vrinda name sit alongside products carrying the VNS identity. Different expressions. Different generations. One fragrance heritage.
